GMAC Press Release, 22 November 2004

GMAC announces the distribution of educational brochures on GM foods

Entitled “Important facts you need to know about GM Food… with Professor GENE-ius and Friends”, the pocket-sized educational brochures, measuring 7.5cm x 10.5cm, are handy and fit conveniently into one’s pocket or purse. The brochure features Professor GENE-ius and 3 other characters discussing issues on GM Foods in a local setting.

The educational brochures aim to introduce terminology, explain concepts of genetic technology and elucidate approval procedures for GM foods imports into Singapore. Through these educational brochures, GMAC hopes to enhance public awareness and at the same time, clarify any misconceptions that the public may have on GM Foods in Singapore.

Targetted at the general public, the brochures are available in all the four official languages – English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil.

The public may pick up the brochures from any of the 103 community centres, community and regional national libraries, the Health Information Centre at the Health Zone and many Town Council offices from Monday, 22nd November 2004.

An online version of the brochure is available at our website.

They may also write in to the GMAC secretariat to request for copies.
